Saving Face: Make Your Own Herbal Moisturizer

Saving Face:
Make Your Own Herbal Moisturizer

Your skin is dry. Your skin is oily. Your skin is both dry and oily. Your skin was oily yesterday, but it's dried out today.

Not only does everyone have a different skin type, but your own skin type may be different from season to season or from day to day. Here's an easy way to customize your store-bought facial cream or lotion and make it right for your skin—simply add a few drops of essential oil to the mix.

The moisturizer:
10 drops of essential oil (depending on your skin type)
3 fluid ounces of hypoallergenic, unscented face cream or lotion

Essential oils:
Burdock for oily skin
Lavender for combination skin
Rosemary for dry skin

In a small glass or jar, mix all of the ingredients well with a spoon. Apply your custom moisturizer to your face and neck, gently massaging it into your skin. Repeat once or twice daily.

Store your new moisturizer in a sealed container in a cool, dark place. back to top
